Description:
Join us on a guided hike of the most popular trail at Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area, the Brook Walk. Learn about the history of the property and the nature you will encounter along the way! The Brook Walk follows Shannon Brook as it rambles through the woods and leads to viewpoints of seven spectacular waterfalls, with much of the trail following the route that led Ossipee Mountain Park visitors to these points more than a century ago. Signs along the trail provide descriptions of the waterfalls and include old images, providing an idea of how these falls appeared to visitors many years ago.
This is a moderate hike that includes several sections of rock stairs, covering about 2.5 miles with an elevation climb of approximately 300 feet.
What to Bring:
Please wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring sunscreen and bug spray as desired. Please note, you will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival. While dogs on leashes are usually permitted on the trails, for the comfort of all attendees, dogs are not allowed at this program.
